Airy and Bright

I love how bright and happy this mood board is! On this project we’re going for a simple and light feel with some dashes of color here and there. We’re using hand lettering for the header (love!) and I really like the organic feel it adds. I’ve been enjoying doing more hand lettering on projects – it’s something I want to get better at and use more. This project has been so fun so far and I’m looking forward to sharing more once it’s finished!

King & King Security LLC : Visual Identity

I totally enjoyed working on this project for King & King Security – the goal was create a solid visual identity for the company that would convey a sense of strength and protection. The colors chosen were deep red and black…one of my favorite combinations! We ended up going with this simple but bold version – incorporating a modern take on two linking chains. I added a little bit of traditionalism in the form of a gradient to the final color logo, but the graphic itself still preserves a modern flair. I think my favorite from this whole project is the lower-left mini logo. =) I love that it’s very simple but still striking!

Tired but satisfied.
Nervous and excited about upcoming opportunities.
Wanting to blog more.
Pushing myself to do more and be better.
Missing my friends.
Thankful for music.
Learning to be content.
Loving nature.
Drinking coffee.
Watching the sun shine through the rain.
Quiet.

Warm and Rustic

I am seriously loving this project. We’re going with a rustic yet simple look for the logo + site, and bringing in a bunch of beautiful warm tones. I’m a sucker for all things outdoorsy/cozy, so this is right up my alley! I’m so looking forward to sharing the final product.

Monday Inspiration

“Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.” I fully believe in the truth of that quote. Talent isn’t something that will grow and mature no matter what – it’s something that has to be developed through hard work. It doesn’t guarantee success at all. Sometimes I wonder if half of any talent is the ability and will to work hard…because they are both so intertwined! This is a lesson I’ve been learning recently. Going the extra mile in work may not be fun in the moment, but it is always so very worth it! And as I push myself harder to connect better with clients, respond to emails more promptly, try different things in design, and do my best to be better in what I do, I can see the work paying off. I can see myself growing as an artist, and the excitement of that fuels me to keep on going.

So I guess that’s what I’m saying – trying harder and working diligently will never disappoint. And when you do love something – whether it’s graphic design, photography, web development, or anything else – if you work hard and strive to learn all you can, you will succeed. Even if you don’t think you have “talent.” That’s a comforting thought, isn’t it?
