Summer

Posted on: July 19th, 2012 by Hannah Beasley 6 Comments

They came so quickly – the hot days, the blueberry picking, glasses of strawberry lemonade while sitting outside – and they’re already flying by. Wasn’t it just yesterday that school was barely out, when the days still had a hint of cool from the winter? Now the sunflowers have bloomed, the grapes are close to ripening on their green vines, and the days are long. I suppose it’s the way of time – how the days seem to slip by without any effort, how sunrise fades into sunset in the blink of an eye.

I’m trying harder to stop my busy pace to catch the last rays of the sun, to go outside and capture the little things that make up life, to appreciate my time. Because it’s slipping by so quickly, and it’s too beautiful to miss.

We spent the fourth very simply – we attended a naturalization ceremony, had a picnic lunch, and hung out at Starbucks. (Who can resist a free cup of coffee, anyway?) It was peaceful and restful day.

In other news, I’ve been working hard with some wonderful people – some photographers, artists, and more who have been such a pleasure to get to know. I truly can’t wait to share these different projects when they’re done!

Stephen + Jess

Posted on: June 20th, 2012 by Hannah Beasley 3 Comments

Jessica is very close to me and my family – she’s been like an adopted sister for ten years. When she met Stephen at medical school a couple years ago, we loved him immediately and started secretly hoping that he would be "the one." They were perfect together – they understood each other’s sense of humor, they loved doing the same things, and they both wanted to be medical missionaries in South America.

Jess vowed that first year that she would never marry him, that she was sure he would marry a wonderful woman…but it wouldn’t be her. We kept hoping, though. After a while we started hearing more and more "Stephen stories" about all the crazy fun adventures they’d had together. It took some time, but Jess finally fell in love with Stephen (he’d been in love with her all along) and they got married on June 16th. Jess asked my sister and I to be there when she got ready, and asked that I have my camera out at that time. It was such an honor, and I’m so glad we were there! It was perfect, from the gorgeous sunrise to the beautiful ceremony to the reception.

Congratulations you two!

Giveaway Winners Announced!

Posted on: June 17th, 2012 by Hannah Beasley 3 Comments

It’s time to announce the winners of the giveaways! Let me first say that it was such an honor for me to read why the branding giveaway entrants need the prizes – I have to say that I had an incredibly hard time picking just two winners from all of you! Each of you truly deserves to win. So I’m going to give everyone who entered the branding giveaway 75% off a full custom branding package! Instead of costing $450, it will be $112. I hope it will be a help to you! (When you’re ready, just email me to claim it!)

Now, onto the winners! The winner of the beautiful wall print from N2Design is…
Candi! Your winning entry was #48 – “Like Hannah Rose Beasley on Facebook”

The winner of the adorable “upcycled” notecards from Carlin Card Creations is…
Amber! Your winning entry was #4 – “Heart N2Design on Etsy”

For the second giveaway we also have two winners. I picked both people based on how much they need online branding, instead of using random.org to decide the winners.

So…our first winner is…
Katie! Katie is a professional calligrapher, and she wants to help her business grow by establishing it really well online. And it sounds like she has a wonderful family, too!

Our second winner is…
Yesica! Yesica is just starting out in the photography business, and she needs help beginning the process online. She’s been practicing for quite a while now, and has established herself as a photographer, and is now ready to start creating her business.

Congratulations to all the winners! I will be emailing each of you shortly. Thanks to N2Design and Carlin Card Creations for being so generous and helping to sponsor this giveaway! And thanks to each of you who entered. You made it wonderful.

Slow Down (We’re Going On a Trip!)

I made for the countryside
And my eyes never grew so wide
Apple raspberry river blue
I don’t wanna leave without you
In the sound I gladly drowned
Into the emerald underground
I rub my eyes ’cause it’s hard to see
Surrounded by all this beauty

It’s like dying to live, squinting to see
All of that distant thunder that never made sense to me
As every pearl turns muddy to rust
I’ll feather the breeze ’cause dreams don’t turn to dust

Everyone has to take time out of their lives every once in a while to just slow down and relax. The busyness of day-to-day life takes over all too often, so those brief moments of quiet and reflection are too precious to be allowed to slip by. I don’t want to get so lost in duties and the details of living that life flies by without me pausing to watch it, to appreciate it.

So we’re going on a short trip, me and my family. Just a handful of days away from our normal schedule to enjoy being together. I’ll be internet-free during that time, and when I come back I’ll announce the winners of the giveaways! So be sure to hurry and enter before they close at 12:01 am on Saturday morning!
