Monday Inspiration

Posted on: May 27th, 2013 by Hannah Beasley 2 Comments

I really do love putting these inspiration boards together every Monday – it gives me a chance to take a break from work and do something different, something that is 100% up to me. Not that I don’t love working with clients. I do. But changing things up is always so fun to do.

For the past few weeks (actually, that would be months), I’ve felt the need to put everything aside and do a complete re-brand for myself. I feel like that’s getting so cliché right now…because working on your brand is so fun, without a doubt, and so many people like to “re-brand” every three months. But seriously, when your clients start noticing that your website/logo is wildly different in design/feel/style from your current work and blog, it’s time to change something. (Yes, that did happen, and thank you to that client for pointing it out! Seriously!) I had decided last fall that I needed to start on this…but it’s taken me until this month to finally get to work not just re-branding, but re-thinking how I work with clients, the overall process, and my own daily schedule. So that’s what’s been preoccupying me recently, and I am so excited to finally finish all of this! I’m hoping to be done and ready to go within two weeks…but we’ll see. ;)

We’ve pretty much spent the past month outside and at Starbucks. You definitely can’t beat that. Summer is slowly coming to NC (although the weather is still so confused here – one day it’s 80 degrees and the next it’s 60), and I’m trying to reconcile myself to putting away my sweatshirts. (I’m a winter person. All the way.) I’ve also been spending way too much time daydreaming about what lenses I would love to get in the future…part of my problem is that I’m getting so into photography that I’m afraid it’s creeping up in importance and might possibly surpass that of design. Not that that’s a bad thing.

I suppose I’ve finally decided rambling is okay. I’m a horrible writer when it comes to personal things – ask me to write a tutorial on some coding or some technical explanation, and I’m fine. It’s when it comes to blog posts or anything similar that I hit a wall. So I’ve decided the remedy will need to be to just write exactly what I would say if we were all talking together. Which leads me to this – thank you, friends, all of you who have faithfully followed this blog of mine and who have been so kind and encouraging. Thank you for bearing with me as I try to figure out where my place is in the online world, thank you for still commenting on my posts even when I’ve been woefully negligent of your own blogs (I’m working on that. I promise.), and thank you for being such a wonderful source of feedback when it comes to my own work. It has meant and does mean very much to me, and through it I know I’ve grown as an artist. I hope this blog can somehow be an enjoyable place to you, and that you’ll keep coming back. ♥

Tomm + Ariel

Posted on: May 22nd, 2013 by Hannah Beasley 2 Comments

The last time we had seen Ari, us girls had played wedding. Ari was the bride, we were her bridesmaids, and we processed around the backyard and the house in our trailing thrift store gowns and high heels. And then we were back, years later, for the real thing. Tomm and Ari are such a wonderful couple – they love each other so much, and their relationship is so beautiful because Jesus is the center of it. Even though it was the first time we had met Tomm, it was obvious to all of us how wonderful they are together, how they are the best friends and how very much in love they are. They met six years ago at the community college they both attended, and the story of their friendship is one that testifies to the faithfulness of God. He brought them through so much, both together and apart, and it was all for good.

So that was the big reason why we went up to MN in April – to be at their wedding. And it was beautiful and wonderful and happy from start to finish. There was talking and laughing and lots of smiling from the early morning even until the happy couple had already driven off! I was able to help out and take some photos, and it was such a pleasure to be able to capture some of the moments from the day. Tomm and Ari, you were an amazing bride and groom, and are such a wonderful couple. May the Lord bless your marriage! I love you guys.

Monday Inspiration

Posted on: May 20th, 2013 by Hannah Beasley No Comments

I haven’t been posting much lately – there’s been a lot going on, and I’ve unintentionally taken a little bit of a break from the online world. But I’m coming back this week – going full-force into this summer’s work and growing as much as I can. I’ll have more coming later.

Monday Inspiration

“…Mr. Rokesmith not only passed the window, but came into the counting-house. And not only came into the counting-house, but finding himself alone there with Bella and her father, rushed at Bella and caught her in his arms, with the rapturous words, ‘My dear, dear girl; my gallant, generous, disinterested, courageous, noble girl!’ And not only that even (which one might have thought astonishment enough for one dose), but Bella, after hanging her head for a moment, lifted it up and laid it on his breast, as if that were her head’s chosen and lasting resting-place!

‘I knew you would come to him, and I followed you,’ said Rokesmith. ‘My love, my life! You ARE mine?’

To which Bella responded, ‘Yes I AM yours if you think me worth taking!’ And after that seemed to shrink to next to nothing in the clasp of his arms, partly because it was such a strong one on his part, and partly because there was such a yielding to it on hers.”

-Our Mutual Friend, Charles Dickens

I just love that. Call it sappy, call it sweet – I think it’s beautiful and I just felt like posting it today. (And doesn’t it fit so well with that top right photo? What a gorgeous, stunning shot.)

Lately

Posted on: May 9th, 2013 by Hannah Beasley 2 Comments

Lately…we’ve been looking for a second puppy to add to our family, and just found our sweet little girl Carley – a Jack Russel mix. We love her to pieces.

Lately…my dad, the previously infamous anti-cat person, has been cuddling every single cat or kitten he’s seen, to our great amazement. It’s made for quite a few photo ops…which can and will be used against him. ;)

Lately…I’ve been doing a lot of reading and drinking coffee and other such fun stuff because my laptop’s fan died – which made it impossible for me to use it at all. Many thanks to my patient clients who have held on for the past couple days as my dad has worked on it! (That’s the reason why Monday Inspiration didn’t happen this week – many apologies!) It’s fixed now, however, and I can get back to work.

Lately…I’ve been missing my MN friends so, so much. It seems like everything reminds me of them and the wonderful time we had together. It is such an enormous blessing to have friends like I do – ones that you will always be so close to, no matter what, no matter how far apart you are.
