I See Fire / Wallpaper

Posted on: June 3rd, 2014 by Hannah Beasley 2 Comments

Recently I’ve been playing Drew Chadwick’s cover of I See Fire pretty incessantly on Spotify – I love the original, but this one (in my opinion) is almost better. (If you haven’t heard of him you should really check out his covers – they’ve become some of my favorites!) I haven’t posted a wallpaper in a while so I wanted to do this one. I’m really loving my round brush – I guess it’s technically supposed to be for painters, but hey, just because it wasn’t made for hand lettering doesn’t mean it isn’t perfect for that!

If you like this song, what version is your favorite? (Download links for wallpaper are below)

A Little Bit of a Change

Posted on: May 27th, 2014 by Hannah Beasley 6 Comments

I re-designed my logo. Mostly because every time I looked at my old one I thought to myself, “Self, that is not the best design. And you should probably re-do it.” So I just took the plunge, and I’m glad I did. Along with doing that I ended up re-designing my blog, added the new logo to my website, and re-did the graphics on my Facebook page (which included adding some hand lettering, because I just love it and can’t bring myself to not have it!). I’m always hesitant to make any big changes such as re-doing my logo or website, because it is such a big thing to do, and something that shouldn’t be happening very often. But sometimes you reach that new plateau and all your branding has to come up with you to that new place! It’s a good transition to make when it really is the right time.

Do you like the new designs? And designers, how do you determine when it’s time to make some major changes in your own branding?

The Land of the Free Because of the Brave

“Honor, justice, and humanity, forbid us tamely to surrender that freedom which we received from our gallant ancestors, and which our innocent posterity have a right to receive from us. We cannot endure the infamy and guilt of resigning succeeding generations to that wretchedness which inevitably awaits them if we basely entail hereditary bondage on them.” – Thomas Jefferson

I love that bottom left image – solid packaging and branding is total eye candy. Right now I’m getting my packaging together, and while it’s a big process (and not exactly cheap), it is so fun and so worth it! Presentation is definitely important.
