Downton Abbey (A Wallpaper)

Posted on: September 15th, 2012 by Hannah Beasley 10 Comments

I’m a huge Downton Abbey fan. I love the characters, the story, and everything about it. It’s amazing to me how the creators of the show have been able to make each person who lives at Downton a main character – I love how many different stories there are within the larger one. Emily requested a Downton Abbey wallpaper a few weeks back, so here it is! Enjoy!

I’m Getting Excited

I’ve decided I want to live outside now. There’s a chill in the wind, an excitement in the air, something that beckons me outdoors. I have a sudden urge to grab a blanket and some coffee, and find an abandoned field to just sit in with only the trees for company. Fall is almost here, and I can’t wait.

Fall was in the air for the first time today – the heat was chased away by the first cool wind of the year. I love fall so much. It feels like the world comes alive at this time, when there’s a snap in the air and a liveliness in the tree branches. I can’t wait to start wearing big sweaters and thick scarfs and boots; to drink coffee outside in the cold, wrapped up in a blanket; to smell the smoky scent of a burning fire.

I’m ready for fall.

{Right now I’m loving dusky gray textures + bold type + pops of color. What are you loving this week?}

Each Moment

Posted on: September 6th, 2012 by Hannah Beasley 6 Comments

Life is so short. Our lives are vapors cast into the wind that are gone as soon as they come. Each passing year goes by twice as quickly as the one preceding it, and we find ourselves growing older faster than we realized. Time can never be stopped, life can never be paused. It will always continue on, whether we will it to or not.

So don’t let time pass you by. Don’t miss this beautiful thing called life. Each moment is a gift, a treasure, a miracle; seize each one and remember them. One day you’ll look back with a full heart, not regret, on each day that was spent just living.

Even so, there is no point in life unless we have the true light of life – for when we do, there is a meaning and a point to living, a reason to love what we have been given.

Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” – John 8:12

Monday Inspiration

Do you ever surprise yourself with what you’re drawn to? I do. Sometimes I’ll look at my boards on Pinterest and see images, colors, and styles there that I never would have thought I would be attracted to, and yet there they are! That’s a big part of the reason why I love Pinterest so much – it can definitely help you discover and define who you are artistically by giving you the ability to find and group together what catches your eye and inspires you. As I continue to experiment with more and more types of design, I’m discovering that I’m drawn to bold lines, clean layouts, and deep colors; as well as more abstract art. And that’s exciting. I want to grow and develop more and more, to create more, and build myself more as an artist.

What are you attracted to that is surprising to you? How are you developing as an artist?
