Monday Inspiration

Posted on: October 22nd, 2012 by Hannah Beasley 1 Comment

This has been one of those quiet weeks – when the sky is gray and you sit inside working and reading, drinking coffee and wearing warm sweaters. I’ve been inspired to experiment and try new things with my baking (Pumpkin maple spice doughnuts, anyone?), to go out of my comfort zone when it comes to design and websites, and to just enjoy this beautiful, beautiful season. NaNoWriMo is fast approaching, the fun and craziness of next month are already beginning, and I can’t wait for everything it holds. It’s been a good week.

A Little Piece of Life

Today was a hot bowls of soup, pancakes for lunch, sweaters and coffee kind of day. It was a get up early and work hard day, when you don’t have any spare time but you don’t care because you’re doing what you love. It was a stop for a minute (or five) and watch the gold and orange leaves float and twirl in the wind, a piano music and scores kind of day.

It was good.

“Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep.” I love that quote so much; it’s a truth that I’m learning more and more each day. There really are no hard and fast rules to art – if there were, nothing would ever change, people would never grow and evolve into their own unique artistry. Recently I’ve been doing more with my photography – trying to be more intentional with every photo I take, seeing an image in my head and re-creating it. It’s been in that experimentation that I’ve begun to see myself becoming more of the photographer I want to be. And you know what? That’s exciting.

How are you changing and developing as an artist or as an individual?

Sweet Pinks

// the mood board for one of my current projects // I think warm grays paired with pinks are just beautiful. The awesome lady to whom this mood board belongs is a fabulous knitter, and I love the yarn textures that we’re incorporating into her design. Pink, brown, gray, and Times New Roman…you just can’t go wrong there, can you? I’m looking forward to sharing the finished product!

Jessica won Sarah Elizabeth’s big giveaway a couple weeks ago – and boy, was she ever excited! She had been tweeting nonstop about the giveaway and had been doing everything she could to enter as many times as possible, so I was so happy for her when she won. The process of working with her on the mood board and her design was so fun. We have very similar tastes when it comes to design, so I loved her ideas and so enjoyed working them out with her. She loves very simple but bold type on images, dark and peaceful colors, and a little bit of moodiness, too. I think we were really able to capture those things in her design, and I’m so happy with how it turned out! Be sure to go visit her blog and leave her some love.
