Twist Your Stitches // Branding

Posted on: November 8th, 2012 by Hannah Beasley 3 Comments

Rachel is a knitter, teacher, mom, and breast cancer survivor who loves Jesus more than anyone. We got connected through Emily Drager, and Rachel told me that she needed to get her brand together – she teaches knitting and loves to blog. We created a pretty neat mood board full of pinks, grays, browns, beautiful textures, and fun fonts to give us a solid creative direction. I had an awesome time working with her on her logo, business cards, and blog design – I love the finished products and think we really got it to where she wanted her brand to be.

Be sure to check out her blog and leave her some love – and if you love yarn and knitting, enter her giveaway! You can win one of two cool prizes…so head on over!

Monday Inspiration

“DON’T GIVE UP.” They are such tiny words, but carry so much meaning. They are the push when you feel like you can’t go any farther, the whisper in the quietness when your words are gone, the echo that finds its way into your heart. I feel so many times like I can’t keep going, whether it’s in my writing, my work, or life in general; and it is then that I am presented with two option – quite and fail, or keep trying. The first option is never satisfying, the second hard but worth it. Nothing worth anything is easily obtained.

I’m doing NaNoWriMo this year – my third time – and finding it harder to strive for that goal. I’m having to balance business, personal life, and writing; and it isn’t easy. But time and time again I keep seeing that message – “Don’t give up.” Because even if my book is never published, even if I end up not loving the words I will write, even if it doesn’t turn out the way I hope it will, I’ll still know that at least I tried. I’ll still have a rather large notebook with my illegible scribbles and sheets of paper that represent my time and feelings, and it will be worth it.

“Her heart – is given him, with all its love and truth. She would joyfully die with him, or, better than that, die for him. She knows he has failings, but she thinks they have grown up through his being like one cast away, for the want of something to trust in, and care for, and think well of. And she says, that lady rich and beautiful that I can never come near, ‘Only put me in that empty place, only try how little I mind myself, only prove what a world of things I will do and bear for you, and I hope that you might even come to be much better than you are, through me who am so much worse, and hardly worth the thinking of beside you.’” – Lizzie Hexam, Our Mutual Friend (by Dickens)

It might be totally and completely unrelated to this post, but I love that paragraph so much. Our Mutual Friend is my very favorite book, Lizzie and Eugene one of my favorite story-book couples, and I wanted to share this beautiful part. Happy Monday!

We had a few extra minutes, so we took photos in the wind.

Hold On

No words, just this – something I needed to read today. “When you feel like giving up, remember why you held on for so long in the first place.”
