Ashley Brooks Editorial / Branding

Posted on: April 4th, 2014 by Hannah Beasley No Comments

When Ashley contact me in the summer of 2013 about doing a re-brand I was totally on board. I loved her style – all things rustic, cozy, and outdoorsy; and plenty of browns, maroons, and greens. Ashley is a different kind of editor than you might normally think of – she’s a spunky writing coach and editor who loves working with artists and writers who want to write and edit their first book but aren’t sure how to follow that dream while still managing everyday life. She wanted her website to have a comfortable, homey feeling to it; almost like you had just walked into her living room and sit and chat! We ended up creating her logo with the silhouette of a deer and hand lettering in browns, and for the website we used photos of rooms and details in her house (taken by Niki Tran Photography) to convey the warm home feeling.

We also designed and had printed business cards – Typeset Design printed the information on the back of the cards, and then I stamped her logo on the front so that the cards would have more of a hand made feel. I love how they turned out – and because we used a thicker 17pt paper the cards ended up feeling and looking very luxurious. Check out Ashley’s website here!

My March

Posted on: April 3rd, 2014 by Hannah Beasley No Comments

This March my sister Maria and I took three weeks to visit our friends the Krafts in MO and the Johnsons in MN. We met the Krafts through Blogger a few years ago and became friends…and eventually ended up visiting them in April of 2013. Well, we all decided we needed to have another visit; and so they had us out there for a week which was great! We had a wonderful time with them.

After the week at the Krafts (which was filled with coffee, talking, movies, and going to the nation’s biggest furniture store. That last one is more fun than you might initially think. ;) ), we got to spend two wonderful weeks with the Johnsons. There’s nothing like having friends that are like family, where going to their house feels like going home. Each new time with them is better than the last. We spent our two weeks hanging out, having long conversations until well into the morning, watching our favorite movies and tv shows, and trying to convince those Johnsons to drink black coffee. (They are definitely still a work in progress) My time with them was precious, and even though we just left I miss them so much already.

Today’s hand lettering…even though it’s kind of the middle of March. ;) But that doesn’t matter, right?

A few weeks ago Ashley contacted me on twitter, and after a few emails back and forth I ended up getting to letter a print for her Overcome the Lie shop! It was so fun to do and I’m looking forward to doing more of the same kinds of things for her and others. You can purchase the print here, and check out the rest of the shop here!

New Website!

Well, a while ago I decided I needed to completely overhaul my website, and especially focus on the portfolio section. I started working on it about five months ago, and it’s taken until now for everything to come together. (but hey, good things take time, right?) I’ve finally finished, though, and am so excited to have everything up and good to go! As far as this blog goes, I’ve actually switched to WordPress (something I vowed a very long time ago not to ever do. Famous last words. ;) ). I love it, though…and hopefully the transition won’t be to difficult.
