This Week

We went to see one of our elderly friends this week, a lady in her late eighties whom we’ve known for almost eleven years. She’s gotten to the point where she can’t drive anymore, can’t go out and can’t do all the things she used to do. She’s been like a grandma to our entire family for the longest time, and she never fails to remind us of her love for our family. Time keeps floating by, and as it does her conversation holds more of heaven than I think it ever has before. She keeps saying she’s just waiting…

But you know what, sometimes change is great, and today I just wanted to write a long-winded blog post about photography and cameras and me. (I also wanted to post tons of photos. I want to go back to a time where women listened to the call inside them and made their houses beautiful and loved their families, where you would be criticized for going out into the world on your own but not for living quietly with your husband. I want to go back to a time when girls weren’t bombarded by people asking them what college they were going to or what…

2012

This year has been filled with the unexpected, the hard, and the beautiful. Each year when we reach the end and I look back, it never seems quite right that the new year is upon us. I always find myself wondering where the year went, how it could go by so quickly, and what the next might bring. I’m one of those people who loves to hold on to and remember the past, so New Years is always bittersweet. 2012 was a big year for me in so many ways. I have learned so much about design, about being unique…
