Minnesota

After looking through all of my photos from our time in Minnesota, I’ve realized that my favorites are the crazy, not-perfect, ipod/phone photos. They aren’t artistic or VSCO Grid-worthy, but they’re the ones that make me smile the most. I think it’s because they all show different random moments that are so memorable – the ones of everyone hanging out in the family room, silly ones with the girls, and my countless instagrams of caribou drinks. Those are my favorite. But I love the “nicer” ones too. =) I picked just a few of my favorites to share – some…

“Tis the human touch in this world that counts, the touch of your hand and mine, Which means far more to the fainting heart Than shelter and bread and wine; For shelter is gone when the night is o’er, And bread lasts only a day, But the touch of the hand and the sound of the voice Sing on in the soul alway.” I ran across this poem by Spencer Michael Free and thought it was so sweet, and I wanted to share it. Happy Monday, friends. {all images via pinterest. clockwise, from top left: 1 : 2 : 3…

Listening to Of Monsters and Men and Mumford and Sons. Ready for the cold and the snap in the wind and sweaters and hot apple cider. Excited for the busyness and fun of fair week. Need to head to the thrift store for more cozy sweaters. Learning to be content and thankful for every day. Life goes by so quickly – too quickly. Trying new things in design. Simplifying and focusing on what’s important. Missing my friends and thankful for them. Want to get out there and do more with my art… growing is good. Wishing we had a Caribou…

We were at a farm that belongs to our friends and I couldn’t help marveling all day at how gorgeous it is there. We live in an area where you never really see the sun come up or go down – tree lines and hills hide it. So seeing the gorgeous sunset from the top of the hill that night was amazing. My camera can’t do it justice! Maria and I kept saying “we’re going to…

Pine trees, browns, rustic styles…I can’t ever get enough of it! That’s one thing I really miss about Minnesota – all the beautiful pine trees. Where I live in NC we have very few of them. It’s interesting, too, how different the colors of foliage are from state to state – in Minnesota they’re deeper, here they’re very bright. (when we were driving from MN to NC back in April we couldn’t get over how crazy the transition was from deep green/brown/gray to vivid green/light brown!) {all images via pinterest. clockwise, from top left: 1 : 2 : 3 :…
