I am just all messed up! I think that’s pretty obvious – I missed Monday Inspiration yesterday, and am posting on the day I normally don’t. But you know what, sometimes change is great, and today I just wanted to write a long-winded blog post about photography and cameras and me. (I also wanted to post tons of photos. You’ve been forewarned. ;) )
I’ve had a Canon Powershot SX20IS for the past three years, and it’s been great. But on Saturday my dad let me use his Canon T1i for the afternoon…and it was awesome. I know it sounds weird, but up until then I had never used a dslr! So you can imagine my ecstasy when I started getting these shots that I had tried and failed to get with my own camera. All of a sudden aperture suddenly meant something. It wasn’t that little dial on my own camera that sometimes worked and sometimes didn’t. I was getting real depth, real textures, real bokeh! I have never had as much fun shooting as I did that afternoon. And let me tell you, when I started importing them to Photoshop and began editing, I was on top of the world. I finally, finally, captured the colors, moods, feelings, and environment that I’ve wanted to.
The experience was so awesome that I started looking for an affordable Canon dslr right away…and my dad and I found a T3 with a pretty nice kit lens for $359. I bought it that night and I cannot wait for it to get here this week. No, it’s not the nicest camera in the world, but you know what? I’m elated.
(Thank you all for your lovely comments on my last post! I’m trying to feel around and see what types of posts are the best for me to write, and your feedback means so much to me.)
ahhhh, hannah, this is EXACTLY how i felt a couple of months ago, when my aunt let me borrow her T3i. it’s why i’ve been saving and scouring the planet for an affordable deal, and it’s why i am so excited for you to now be getting your own. xx
Mm… these are lovely. The Rebel is my dream. =)
Congratulations, Hannah! There is no feeling quite like buying new camera equipment after saving up for months/years. Plus, it does wonders for inspiration. =D This past December I bought my own dslr after using my mom’s rebel for years. I can’t wait to see the photo you take with your new camera!
p.s. my favorite shot in your post
These shots are amazing! I am quite envious right now…I can’t wait to see the photos that you will take once you get your camera!
Hugs,
Emily.
That’s awesome that you’re getting a DSLR!! All I have for my photography is a Canon Elph–which is great, but I’ve been wanting to get my hands on a Canon Rebel t3i ever since my cousin let me use hers.
Thank you all – I am so excited! =D
That’s awesome, Jessica. =D I know, once that camera bug bites you there’s no turning back, right? ;)
Congrats Emily Grace! That is so cool! Yeah, after saving for years it’s even more exciting. Definitely worth it.
These photos are insanely awesome!
